TLIA Parks and Grounds Committee will be hosting a spring cleanup day on April 30. This year, the new Stewards of the Parks Program will be one of the components of the cleanup day. The program, which started last spring, was the brainchild of John Yancey as a way to encourage volunteerism to monitor parks and facilities on a monthly basis for litter, vandalism, safety concerns and any special maintenance needs. A number of residents stepped up to take on the important role of steward (see list below).

Residents who want to volunteer for spring cleanup should show up on on Saturday, April 30, at 8:00 am at the Beach Parking Lot for an assignment. John Yancey, Mike Mitchell or a park steward will direct volunteers on projects for the day, which will include some boat landing maintenance.

Lunch will be served at Barsumian Park followed by a small ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the Eagle Scouts who worked diligently on improving Lindy Lewis Park (the Gazebo). Over the last several months, Troop 21, including Tower Lakes residents Tate Fisher and Stephen Yancey, stabilized the gazebo foundation, stained the wood structure, created steps to the gazebo, supervised the replacement of a new roof and enhanced the landscaping by planting approximately 250 native plants. If you haven’t been over to the park, take a look and enjoy the view from the newly renovated area.

If you have questions, please contact Mike Mitchell or John Yancey.
