David DeRita, a long time Tower Lakes resident and Pickle Ball instructor, has offered to provide introductory Adult Pickle Ball instruction free of charge to Tower Lakes residents again this summer for the second year in a row.
Instruction will be held two times each week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 pm both evenings at the Tower Lakes Tennis Courts beginning on Tuesday June 12 and repeating on Thursday June 14.
During the first week, we will discuss the history and founding of this fascinating sport and we will cover rules, serving, scoring and playing.
Last year we had an awesome turnout of 18 to 20 residents who learned to play and enjoy this fun sport. Let’s add more Tower Lakes players this year.
David is planning to have loaner paddles and regulation PB balls available for instructional use for the first couple of meetings. However, for your own safety, you should wear eye protection and approved court shoes (not running shoes) to participate.
Like we did last year, and if there is enough interest, David can plan to have someone join us one evening with demonstration paddles for you to try (and buy if you would like). There is never any pressure to buy a paddle, but trying and playing with a number of different makes, shapes and weight paddles is a good way to ensure you’re buying the right paddle the first time.
If you think you’d like to learn to play “America’s Fastest Growing Sport”, or need to brush up on winter dormant skills in hibernation from last year, please email David (davidddr@comcast.net) expressing your interest.
David would also be happy to arrange days/times other than the above if there is enough interest and if there is no conflict with scheduled tennis usage of our courts.
